Description

While I'm collecting data for my next imaging project, it's time to post some of the less spectacular galaxies from data collected last fall.  This image features a seldom-captured group of galaxies in the constellation Perseus.  All of the galaxies are relatively dim and obscured by dust, so there isn't much to see in the way of color.

NGC 1198 is an elliptical galaxy that measures only 1.4' x 0.8' ( to the lower left of the image center).   It shines at an overall magnitude of 12.8.

To the upper right of NGC 1198 is, UGC 2538, a barred spiral of type SBa.  To the left of the bright orange star (right side of the image) are UGC 2534 (not classified in SIMBAD) and UGC 2536 (Type S0).  Near the bottom of the frame is UGC 2528 (Type S0a).

None of these galaxies are spectacular in a small telescope, but I am posting them to expand the library photographic data on Astrobin.  Aside from some Perseus Widefield images, I was unable to locate another dedicated image of NGC 1198 on Astrobin, so here it is in all of its fuzzy glory!
